About The Event
Heart 4 the Wounded was founded on the belief that healing extends far beyond treating wounds — it requires science, compassion, collaboration, and the courage to think differently. Since the inaugural conference in 2013 at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria, South Africa, Heart 4 the Wounded has grown from a vision of “making a difference” into a respected multidisciplinary platform connecting healthcare professionals, researchers, patients, advocates, and industry partners committed to improving patient outcomes.
Over the years, the conference has continued to evolve through successful gatherings in 2015, 2017, 2019, and beyond — including the move to Time Square, where new partnerships, conversations, and opportunities flourished. Throughout its journey, Heart 4 the Wounded has remained dedicated to recognising difference-makers at both national and international levels while supporting charities and non-profit organisations that create meaningful impact, including Save Our Rhino, Santa Shoebox, Angels, and most recently, DEBRA South Africa.
While the COVID-19 pandemic may have delayed our momentum, it never changed our purpose. Each conference has continued to challenge traditional boundaries, amplify patient voices, encourage collaboration, and promote evidence-based healthcare.
Now, in 2026, we proudly return to where it all began — the CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria — for our 6th conference instalment under the theme:
“Be the Difference – Where Science, Compassion and Purpose Meet.”
Heart 4 the Wounded 2026 will explore the future of healing through scientific innovation, ethical practice, patient stories, resilience, leadership, and cross-disciplinary learning — creating a space where clinicians learn from patients, researchers collaborate with practitioners, and healthcare professionals are empowered to create meaningful change.
Because together, we are not only improving wound care — we are shaping the future of healing.
